Vice President Marketing
Cathy Ahles, Vice President for Marketing and Business Development at Premier, is a practitioner, consultant and educator in public relations and marketing communications. During her 40-year career, she has developed specialties in marketing and PR for aviation, higher education and non-profit organizations. At Premier she is responsible for global marketing, brand management and public relations. As a consultant for several major manufacturers and an aviation startup business, she has provided market research, analysis and brand strategy expertise to aviation clients.
Prior to joining Premier, she enjoyed an eight-year appointment as associate professor and Chair of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Florida International University. Earlier in her career, she was President of Durocher • Dixson • Werba Public and Financial Relations, where one of her specialties was the aviation sector. Earlier, she was Vice President of College Relations at Macomb Community College in metro Detroit, Michigan.
Among some 35 industry awards she has won two Silver Anvils from the Public Relations Society of America for a program that raised $90 million in public funds for higher education. Ahles has been National Secretary of the Public Relations Society of America and President of both the Detroit and Greater Fort Lauderdale chapters of PRSA.
Ahles holds a private pilot certificate with single engine land and sea ratings. She has an MBA from Michigan State University and a BS in English Language and Literature from Eastern Michigan University. She is an avid wildlife and aircraft photographer; her photography of a renovated Piper Dakota was featured on the cover and inside the April 2018 issue of Piper Flyer magazine.

Jeff Owen is a seasoned general aviation sales and marketing professional with over 35 years of experience in aircraft manufacturing, sales, marketing and business development. As Vice President of Piston Sales at Premier, he provides leadership to the sales team. Owen has over 5,000 hours flight experience and holds a Private Pilot certificate with multi engine and instrument ratings. Before joining Premier more than a decade ago, he was Executive Vice President and Sales Manager for Diamond Aircraft Industries North America, Cessna Aircraft Dealer Development & CPC Manager, Cessna District Sales Manager, and a former licensed aviation insurance broker.

Barry Rutheiser, Regional Sales Manager, is a 35-year veteran of aviation. A private pilot with an instrument rating, he has clocked over 4,000 hours as pilot in command. During his 20 years in the aircraft sales profession, he has sold dozens of piston singles including Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft and Mooney aircraft. Fred Ahles, President and Founding Partner of Premier Aircraft Sales, is a 51-year veteran of aviation who began his career washing planes at a sod strip in Michigan. He has clocked over 12,000 hours as pilot in command, and holds an impressive array of pilot credentials, including Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificates; single, multi-engine and instrument ratings, and a seaplane rating. Fred has sold more Piper M-class aircraft (Meridians, Matrix’s and Malibus) than anyone, and over the years has been a dealer for Cessna, Diamond, Mooney and Piper aircraft.
